2007 Harley-Davidson Night Train Comfort Build

HD Build

Taking on a build can be a tough thing to do. Whether or not it’s because of expenses, the immense amount of decisions, or simply allotting some time to do the work, I’m sure we can all agree that taking on a project is rather stressful.

Of course, there are many good things that come out of completing a build, and these things can lead to a feeling of fulfillment and happiness once the ride is exactly where we want it. Nonetheless, making a mistake early on can change all of this, and leave the build feeling incomplete or imperfect rather than truly done. But never fear — there are always ways to fix these mistakes!

HDForums member Dave, who is also known by his username stal94gt, made one such “mistake.” While we wouldn’t say that it was a flaw in the ride, it certainly did manage to cause some trouble down the road. A while back he built up his 2007 Harley-Davidson Night Train, and he got it looking good.

He loved how it looks, but there was a major problem — it just wasn’t comfortable. For a rather short rider who likes to take longer rides, this turned into a major problem. After a great deal of debating, Dave decided this was an issue he had to fix. It would get him back on the bike more, after all.

After adding some floorboards, Dave decided it wasn’t enough. He needed to get rid of the spring seat. While with would seem simple enough, it also means that he has to get rid of the swing arm mounted fender that he added in the past, which isn’t as easy as one might hope.

Even so, his comfort build is coming along, and hopefully the ride will be nice enough to ride on long trips soon! Go stop by Dave’s build thread and show your support!
