A 2007 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Roadster Build

HD Build

While many won’t admit it, many builds are taken on in the hope that one will be accepted more by those around them if their bike is a certain way. While this certainly isn’t the right reason when it comes to beginning a project, it is one that exists and is more common than most people will acknowledge. The best reason to work on a ride is for your own self satisfaction rather than opinions others will have, since, as we all know, somebody will always be a naysayer. That’s why we’re happy to say that today’s build was definitely not started with hopes of meeting anyone else’s expectations.

How can we say that? Well, HDForums member Nate, who is also known by his username porkponey, recently started the build and has met quite a few people begging him to stop along the way. In fact, he even titled his build thread “Ruining a Roadster.” We won’t agree or disagree, since it is, after all, Nate’s build that he is free to do his own way!

He picked up his 2007 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Roadster back in November of 2015, and has since changed quite a few things about the ride. Firstly, he removed the awful generic windscreen that was present and took off the bags. He then proceeded to flip the mirrors, add some Keystone handlebars, put on some new grips, and install a Burly Slammer Kit. In the process he removed the passenger pegs, front fender, and the header heat shields. He has started tuning with a Dynojet Powervision tuner. But, of course, these are only a few of the things he has done!
