BUILDUP A 2008 Harley-Davidson Nightster Project

HD Build 1

When one buys a ride to build up, repair, and modify, they usually aren’t looking for something spectacular. While there are certainly exceptions, it is often the case that when someone buys a project bike, they are hoping to be able to put more money into fixing it up than into the original purchase. This is not a bad plan at all, and is, in fact, how many rides are restored and rejuvenated. However, it’s not a bad thing for the value in that beaten ride to go up — whether it be through monetary gain, or maybe just through knowledge and historical experience.

HDForums member Kevin (A.K.A. “bigmant“) picked up his project bike, a 2008 Harley-Davidson Nightster, about four months ago and has put a lot of work into it since. It wasn’t in particularly bad shape when he go it, though the entire ride was painted in (guess what?) black Rhino Liner — and for those who don’t know, this is the paint used to paint the bed of a truck. The previous owner claimed that it gave the bike a “nice texture.” The ride also had stick-on LED lights, which came off first when Kevin began to tear down the ride.

HD Build 2

There is no way that we could go into all that Kevin has done to this ride since, but one of the more impressive developments was when he learned of the ride’s history. Apparently, the hog was owned by a man named Chris Rayburn, who was a stunt rider in the area. Kevin even got a few pictures of the ride when it was in Chris’s possession.

Kevin has done a lot to bring this ride back to life, and now it looks completely different than when he bought the strangely-painted machine just a few months back! Go check out his build thread and show your support!
