BUILDUP Wrecked 2007 Harley-Davidson Street Glide Gets a 2nd Start

HD Build

Not everyone is always up for the task of working on and rejuvenating a wrecked motorcycle. After all, most of the time the bike is very much a total loss after it has been struck by a cage.

Sometimes there is hope when the rider just loses control, but that’s being hopeful. Even so, these rides aren’t something to be given up on just because they have a few battle scars — in fact, it can give that motorcycle a rather intriguing story!

IMAG0736HDForums member Dirk (A.K.A. “solidliquid“) has been on what he calls the “rebuilder’s challenge,” and picked up a wrecked bike to work on. He sold his 2006 Electra Glide Police and bought the injured 2007 Street Glide. By looking at his new ride it would be hard to tell that it has truly been in a wreck, and apparently it was still in good enough condition that, after throwing in a battery, Dirk was able to ride it that same day.

IMAG0735At the moment the bike has been in the shop more than at his house, but it will be well worth it when complete. Many parts are being powder-coated, saddlebag speakers are being added, and new wheels have gone on. Despite the currently delightful black color, he is going for the shade Candy Apple Red from House of Kolor. He has already received several painted parts back — and they definitely look good!
