Sturgis Preview: The Full Throttle Saloon

If you’re planning a trip to Sturgis this August, you’ll be coming up way short if you don’t stop and hang at the Full Throttle Saloon. The Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis has been a mainstay during the world famous Sturgis motorcycle rally for decades. The Saloon is so much more than just a bar. They offer a variety of entertainment, drinks, musical acts and even accommodations on their massive grounds.

Location

The Full Throttle Saloon is located in Sturgis, North Dakota on Highway 38. They are easy to find and offer plenty of parking. While, they offer accommodations, there are also accommodations located in the town of Sturgis not to far from the Full Throttle compound.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere of the Full Throttle Saloon is like a biker bar meeting the wild west. The structure and design showcase the rugged outdoors of Sturgis and the surrounding environment, including Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower, the Black Hills and more. Aside from the decor, they also boast theme nights at the bar which include Hee-Haw, Lingerie, Support Our Troops and more. The bartenders and entertainment always get into these themes and guests are invited the be part of the fun.

Attractions

Among the many regular attractions during Sturgis, the Full Throttle Saloon is home to some of the most beautiful women in the world, showcased in their many shows including Angieland and the Girls of Flaunt. Other attractions include the mechanical bull, midget wrestling and the Wall of Death.

Events

The Full Throttle Saloon attracts bands and entertainment from all over  the world. For this year’s Sturgis, the Full Throttle will feature the likes of Ted Nuget, Jackyl, the Marshal Tucker Band and more!

Accommodations

Not only does the Full Throttle Saloon cater to all your entertainment and rally needs, they also have cabins for rent. The bar opens in June and stays open through the Sturgis rally. Cabins are available in July. the first week of August and during the rally. Availability is limited and it’s recommended you reserve early. Each cabin sleeps four and has a front porch with seating, a dining table, microwave, refrigerator and other amenities. Also available to guests are free laundry services, a bike wash and grills. Prices are boasted as lower than local hotels.

Tru TV

The saloon has garnered so much attention the cable network Tru TV has picked them up for a second season. The show follows owner Mike Ballard as he navigates through the busiest nine days of his life, managing over 300 employees including the 100 gorgeous bartenders. It shows the behind the scenes drama of running the world’s biggest biker bar and how they work hard to make as much money as possible during this enormous event.
