Jarrod and Justin Del Prado from DP Customs are big fans of racing. When nothing is on tv they spend their time watching and re-watching old road movies. This passion for racing and low budget movies defines their unique building style. Borrowing details and custom touches found on the myriad machines racing for the checkered flag or from the law. This bike, named “Two-Lane”,  is their latest creation. Loosely inspired by “Two-Lane Blacktop”, a movie from 1971 featuring a 55 Chevy drag racing across the USA.

Based on a 2003 Sporty 1200 cc for a client who gave carte blanche to the boys from DP Customs. “Two Lane”  creates its unique stance and visual by the interesting choice of a pair car wheels. The front is an 18″ drag racing wheel from Radir and in the rear is a 15″ from American Racing. The front wheel had to be machined to work with a Harley axle and bearings. The rear needed a custom flange and they had to weld the Harley hub in. The front wheel is wrapped with Firestone rubber and the rear with a Hoosier drag tire.

Engine performance was improved with a Revolution Performance 1250cc cylinder and piston kit, 42mm Mikuni carburetor, and Dynatek’s single fire ignition and coil. A deep gray gun coating was applied to the rocker boxes, cam cover and primary. Engine & tranny were cradled in a drop-seat hardtail frame from Led Sled Customs and fitted with a  Springer front end crafted by Chassis Design Company. Rear braking, and the only brake, is handled by a 4-piston PM sprocket rotor.

With a hand made rear cowl and seat pan honing the look the “lake pipe” style exhaust completes it. Hand hammered by the brothers for a one off complete custom. Then, the Del Prados went to hammering some sheet metal to form the one-off rear cowl and seat pan.  DP Customs LLC.
