2011 Harley Davidson Dyna Model Overview
The Dyna Glide line of Harley-Davidson motorcycles reveals something new for the 2011 model year.
The Dyna line is actually a form of SuperGlide. The SuperGlide began as a "street" version of the big dressers (otherwise known as Electra Glides). Designers at the H.D. factory had the idea: "Hey, let's strip off all of the non-essentials - the tour paks, fairing, windshield, passenger seat, etc.-- and create a street vehicle that is powerful in both looks and horsepower." So the SuperGlide was born. Originally chain-driven and available in both electric- and kick-start versions, an early offshoot of the SuperGlide was the Low Rider.
The Dyna Glide models for the 2011 model year include the Street Bob, the Super Glide Custom, the Fat Bob, and the Wide Glide.
Street Bob
A big addition to the Street Bob model are the eight inch mini "ape" handle bars, which allow you to ride with your hands "blowin' in the breeze," much like big custom bikes. Naturally all wires go through the bars .The result: a genuine chopper look. No passengers on this one: there is nowhere to sit on the chopped rear fender. The low-slung single seat speaks to the individual lone rider. Power is provided by the air-cooled, Twin Cam 96 motor. Street Bob is available in four colors for 2011: Brilliant Silver Pearl, Vivid Black, Cool Blue Pearl, and Black Denim. Buy a Street Bob for around $13,000 U.S.
Super Glide Custom
The Super Glide Custom for 2011 sports chrome encased gauges mounted right on the fuel tank, a fuel tank panel made of genuine leather, steel pull-back handle bars, a unique battery cover, a lot of pretty chrome, and swept back exhaust. Add these all up together and you get a huge dose of Harley attitude. Powered by 1584cc Twin Cam 96 engine, you can order a Harley-Davidson Super Glide Custom in Vivid Black, Scarlet Red, Cool Pearl Blue/Vivid Black, Dark Candy Root Beer/Light Candy Root Beer, Psychedelic Purple/Vivid Black or Apple Green/Vivid Black. Buy one for around $13,000 U.S.D.
Fat Bob
With the Fat Bob, it's the gas tank design that sets this model apart not only from other makes of bikes but from the other Harley models as well. Not a Peanut Sportster tank, not a tear-drop tank, but a fat bob tank. The 2011 Fat Bob from Harley-Davidson features dragster-style 1-1/4" handle bars with high risers and wires artfully mounted inside the bar. A real dragster look. The big 1584cc Twin Cam 96 engine gets you there and solid cast aluminum wheels connect you to the road. Colors are Vivid Black, Cool Blue Pearl, Sedona Orange, Black Denim, and Hot White Denim. Prices start at around $13000 U.S.D.
Wide Glide
The 2011 Wide Glide is a step back into the future. The streaming flame gas tank art says it all: Easy Rider, the '70s, even the '50's - you get extensive style with this ride. Power is provided by the 1584cc Twin Cam 96 (96 cubic inches, that is). Low stung, room for one passenger (s/he better be small), extended fork look on the front end for a chopped look, plenty of chrome -- just a heck of a street bike. The Wide Glide for 2011 is available in Vivid Black (no flaming gas tank art), Vivid Black with Flames, Chrome Yellow with Flames, or Sedona Orange with Flames. Price starts at around $15,500 US.
