Forty-Eight Review Explains Why You’ll Love It Despite Its Many, Many, Many Flaws

As corny and dramatic as it is, Jon Snow’s recent Infiniti commercial actually gets it 100 percent right: At the base of everything, a vehicle should be judged on one thing: how it makes you feel inside. That’s important to remember when you’re riding one of Harley-Davidson’s Sportster Forty-Eights.

As I’ve experience myself, and as ThisIsMoney writer and reviewer Rob Hull will tell you, the 48 has a list of flaws. A long list, actually. It’s tiny tank limits range (and there’s no gas gauge), it’s extremely uncomfortable, going fast on it will rock you to your bones, and it’s not necessarily fast. I personally didn’t enjoy riding it (probably because my experience was part of a press ride that included long stints on the highway with the wind making me feel like a bobble-head), but it made a believer out of Hull once he accepted it for what it was.

After he chugged down all the negatives like a warm beer before leaving a pre-game, he started to feel pretty good.  It’s definitely a beautiful bike to look at, it sounds beautiful because Harley-Davidson, and at low power, it does the job. So, you know, if you just needed something to poke around town on, you could do worse. Read the rest of the review and find out more on why this bike demands a different set of criteria than any other.
