Harley-Davidson Sponsored Sturgis Events

If you’re in town for the Sturgis motorcycle rally during the first full week in August, take in some of the Harley sponsored events. These events take place around town and offer visitors a variety of entertainment, shops, and rides. There are two different locations for Harley’s events.

3rd and Lazelle

3rd and Lazelle is a prime location for some Harley sponsored Sturgis events. Stop in at the free bike wash to rid your bike of road dust and make it shine. The Harley Davidson Custom Ride-In Show registration starts at 9:00a.m. on Thursday. Judging is from 12:00 to 3:00, with awards at 4:00p.m. There are prizes in all categories with only a $10 entry fee, which benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Another popular event is the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building. You can register up to two bikes for competition with four different categories to choose from. Entries must be submitted by Monday, August 1, 2011. Also at 3rd and Lazelle, there will be a display of all of the 2012 Harley motorcycles, parts, accessories, and even clothes. You can purchase 2011 merchandise at the Willie G. H.O.G booth. The products are exclusive, and not available in most areas.

I-90 and Exit 30

There are a few Harley sponsored Sturgis events at I-90 and exit 30, from 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m., August 6 through 12. Take a free demo ride on one of the new 2012 Harleys. As long as you have a license and meet gear requirements, you can ride as many bikes as you like. The 2012 Harley Davidson Motorcycle Display features all of the newest bikes just rolling off the line. You can talk to experts and ask any questions you may have about the bikes. The fit shop is a great place to try out some new features. Experts are on hand to help you out, and you can try out some adjustments for your bike. These adjustments can add control, comfort, and style to your bike.

H.O.G. Happenings

August 6 through 13 is a good time to renew your H.O.G.(Harley Owners Group) membership. You can do this at 3rd and Lazelle, as well as pick up your pin and learn more about membership benefits. The new model launch party is August 7, and is exclusive to H.O.G. members. You can enjoy the party with special guests, entertainment, Harley staff, and more. Tickets are available for purchase ahead of time. August 7 is also the date for the Lynyrd Skynyrd show at the Buffalo Chip Campgrounds. Tickets include a pre-concert party, meal, tent camping pass, and parking. A limited number of tickets are available. August 10 and 11 marks the pit stop and parts race.
