A long time ago, Russia was a major power player in the realm of motorcycles. But since the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the financial ruin the country currently is facing, Russian built motorcycles are becoming a rare sight indeed. But one Russian does not want that history of bike building to vanish of the face of the Earth. That’s why Walter Tosto Motorbike was born, to save that old industry, or at least prop it up for just a bit longer.

Using parts from Moto Guzzi’s California 1400, the Lupus Alpha project aims at breathing new life into the struggling industry, and from what we can see, it’s definitely a bike we’d love to ride. The Lupus Alpha was designed by Filippo Barbacane, and uses a neo-retro girder fork on the front end, and a carbon swing arm. Throughout the bike, Barbacane used even more carbon, and race inspired parts.

No word yet on how much the bike will cost, but seeing as all the race parts, carbon fiber, and one-off pieces, I doubt this will completely reinvigorate the Russian motorcycle industry. But who knows, maybe someone will see this bike and want to compete against it, then start their own company.
