Throwback Thursday – Harley Advertising

SideCar

Harley Davidson has been building bikes since 1903 and side cars since 1915. Prior to that they used another manufacturers side car attached to the Harley. What gets us about this advertisement is the pitch. Selling the side car rig as a hunter and fisherman’s ride to get up the trails. Saving walking time and hours of time wasted getting there instead of hunting and fishing. That’s a built in excuse to try to sell the wife on the idea of a motorcycle!

The old ads remind me so much of how things have changed. Many people would never dream of riding their motorcycle off the asphalt and yet at one point, well, that was the point.
