Default Tri Glide review

Thought I would give my views on Tri Glide as have had now since Feb 2012. I bought a used 2009 with 4300 miles on it and now have about 8200 having recently rode for 6 days and put on about 2100 miles. It is basic stock except some crome the prevoius owner put on. I have added back rest, highway pegs, and floorboards.
I love this machine and as I have muscular problem with my legs it has kept me riding. It has sufficent power in 5th gear and I can ride 70 mph easy - I don't use 6th unless over 75 mph. Corners are not an issue as it is very easy to stear as long as you don't get to aggresive. I was ahead of some 2 wheel bikes and had no trouble in hair pin turns staying out in front. It is easier to ride longer because of the fairing - takes 95% of wind off your chest. I have put on an 8 inch windvest windsheild and works very nice. Only downside and I have adjusted to them is back brakes are very poor, & seat is not as comfortable as would like. But would def recomend this bike

If you change the rear brake pads to the 2011 models it may help your rear braking. HD made the brake pads larger in 2011.

Many of us '09 and '10 TG owners have replaced the primary belt pulley with the '11 model. Makes running in 6th gear a bit more comfortable at higher cruising speeds. Might cost you about 400 bucks for part and labor but I feel it was worth the cost.
Almost forgot..........your speedo would read 5mph slower.

WOW! Only going to 6th gear at 75mph?!! Isn't it buzzing like crazy?
I'm always going onto 6th just over 55/mph

Service manager said not to shift into 6th until at least 60mph. It just feels/sounds better going into 6th at 55.

When do you others shift into 6th??? Just curious.

My 2012 spins at about 2,500 RPMs at 65MPH in 6th gear. With my current stock set up, it does not seem happy running less than 2,500 for extended time. Plus it does not have the grunt that I want it to have. So...bottom line...I shift into 6th at 65 MPH and back to 5th if dropping below 65MPH. After my in process stage 1.5 work is completed maybe I will reconsider.

I shift into 6th at about 60-65ish. Anything lower than that and it just sounds awful and the RPM's climb too high. I try to keep the RPMs about 2500 or so.
