Default FXDXT Windshield/fairing Question

I am wondering how effective the FXDXT fairing is? Do you get much buffeting? Is the complete fairing and mount still available from HD or after market? I assume it would fit right on my 2004 FXDXI?
Early on I tried one of HD's detachable windshields and found the buffeting and noise unbearable so I never use it. It may be due to the location of the instruments that the shield is positioned be too vertical. Anyway I have on order a set of FXDXT saddlebags from LeatherPro and am just considering the pro and con of adding the fairing? Any words of wisdom?

Awww ****, is the search button broken again?!?!

JK

In all seriousness, most of my buddies have T sport fairings on their scoots. They say it makes a difference, but idk to what extent. I rock a 18 inch windshield on my fairing, and I don't feel anything at freeway speeds (I'm also 6'6) Im assuming the T fairing would be similar, with a tall shield.

The Tsport fairing works well, I like mine. If you use a cut down windshield it will change the wind flow. Also, you would need the Tsport trees to mount it. Or just buy the Conelys replica.

You're right, I had no idea this had been discussed so much. Meaning, since I didn't know, I *should* have searched. Anyway I just did and see it has been well covered so I'll get to looking through them.
I will look into Conely's replica too, thanks!

A lot of how the fairing works depends on the seat you have, the height of the windshield on the fairing, and how tall you are. Mine works great for me, but it might not work for you.

You can buy the fairing for an FXDXT, but not the actual moving parts for the windshield anymore.

The gears that move the windshield are prone to break and there are no replacements to be found.

I take it then none of the replica versions incorporate the moving aspect of the original? Was that function useful?
