Do I need to remove the front right brake support? It will not budge.

It's connected to the frame and there are several bolts.

Probably depends on the model of bike you have. Since you posted in the touring forum section, then I suppose that's what you're riding. Not bashing ya, just helps you get good info if you let everybody know what ya got. I didn't have to remove any brake hardware when I swapped out the exhaust on my wife's 2012 Street Glide or my 2010 Wide Glide. You WILL have to remove the right side rear foot-board bracket bolt (driver's foot-board), loosen the front bolt, and swing it down out of the way to get the stock exhaust off and install the new exhaust (or remove the foot-board completely). Ask me how I know. I'm hardheaded and don't like taking unnecessary steps if I can help it, but sometimes it comes around and bites me in the @ss.
Anyway, good luck with the removal and install.

 

I won't work on a bike or car without a service manual. I've learned that it can save a lot of grief and the money you save doing your own mechanics will more than pay for the manual.

On my 2012 FLHTK I didn't have to remove the brake hardware or floorboards to get the exhaust off. It probably would have been a little bit easier if I had removed the right side floorboard, but it wasn't necessary.

 

Get the service manual. I have done all the work to my RKC and the service manual has been invaluable.

 

Try wiggling them toward the bottow as much as you can, then negotiate the top away from the engine. I had the same issue on my Heritate and was in the process of removing the front floor board, but a bolt was too tight. I just kept wiggling carefully until it seemed to come out all by itself.

 

I bet you could have finished the job...
