Question Exhaust Note Changed...

First let me give you a little info.
The bike is a 2009 FLHTPI with D&D Fatcat 2 into 1 exhaust, a big sucker air cleaner, and a Power Commander V. I got on the bike 2 nights ago and noticed that the exhaust note had changed drastically. Like the bike is half as loud as it used to be. (and no it isn't my hearing, I can hear music louser than it used to be.)
I'm hoping that someone may have had this experience before and can lead me in the right direction as where to look at what may be causing this.
The fact that it isn't as loud doesn't bother me as much as the fact that I didn't change anything that would cause this.
Thank you in advance for the assistance.

So what your saying is it was louder when you bought it and it's tamer overnight? Exhaust will seem louder with a helmet on as apposed to not wearing a helmet. It shouldn't get tamer unless you added packing to the baffles, so what the hell.

The only thing that would make any sense would be that some packing came loose and moved around inside the muffler.

I've heard and experienced sound getting louder but never the other way around? Peculiar to say the least.

This has me stumped. haven't changed anything...
No helmet, didn't add anything to the exhaust, haven't switched windshields.
From Idle to just under 3K RPM's the sound now reminds me of when I had stock pipes on the bike.

Check your manifold bolts exhaust manifold gasket. If you've go a leak up there, it would make a drastic difference, but you'd probably hear the tone difference up forward.

Since you've had the bike only a couple days maybe you were concentrating on other things initially and didn't notice the true tone of the exhaust.

It's surprising how the mind gets involved after we read something or heard a story about someone else experiencing a problem and we suddenly begin to think it's happening to us too.

Monitor the bike, ride, enjoy, repeat...

Stand in back of the bike. Is it louder now?
