I would say that marine-grade JB Weld should do well to hold that piece of plastic in place. (but only after the proper cure time) If you noticed, it looks like it is also held by some kind of metal clip (which in my opinion is not very robust looking at all).

As I said earlier, how can oil pass inward toward the splined shaft when centrifugal force wants to sling it in the opposite direction? I don't see the angle or orientation of the grooves as a solution to this problem because the centrifugal force is always present and would, in my opinion, overpower any potential oil entry from the outside of the assembly.

Actual picture of the re-designed SE Comp.

I am waiting on test reports from 2 different shop owners who both bought this new setup and have installed them in their own personal bikes.

Yep. Everytime one fails. The big question is, will this re-design comp solve several issues the first SE Comp has had.

how do you know when they are going bad? I have a 2012 street glide all the more reason to get the extended warranty.

I heard a clunking noise when starting(my clunking may sound like a rattle to someone else) and sometimes on shut down ,
Only certain models came stock with the SE Compensator such as the TriGlide.. I think it is stock on the 103" bikes now. Its been discussed here I just cant remember where. Someone can chime in here who remembers dates and models im sure.

FLTR, Thanks for the additional info.

When I took my trike in to an Indy and a Harley Dealer, they both suspected the Compensator but it turned out to be a bad carankshaft.

We were getting clunks on shutdown on both my dads and mine. My dad had his replaced under extended warranty, mine..... Its someone else's problem now. When we took my dads to the dealer the service mgr took one listen to it on shutdown and said it was shot, and it was. I only hope this new design is the cure, but I'm not holding my breath.

Any word on when the upgrade kit will be available for those of us with the older unit? Since the rotor and spring pack don't need to be replaced I would expect the cost of the upgrade kit to be significantly less than the complete unit.
