So a few days ago I came across this event that seems to be building steam and growing. Meeting sites are being made in VA and a national link up has been established in Landover, MD at an abandoned mall. Then the ride through DC takes place.

There are only about 6 million motorcycles registered in America. That includes small bikes, sport bikes, dual sport (enduro) bikes, cruisers, antique bikes, etc.

What are the odds you are going to get 1 in 3 motorcycles registered in the whole country to ride across country for this event?

There are 139 million regularly employed workers in America. That includes, all sexes, all occupations, all ages.

What are the odds that 1.4% of the total US workforce is taking the same several days off to make the trip to DC?

2 million? NFW.
200,000 is wildly optimistic.

 

My numbers show about 9.5 million ( http://www.howmanyarethere.org/how-m...a_close_button ) Still, as "Jonesee" has pointed that's a whole lot of riders participating in the program ... How many Port-A-Johns would that take??? Still the idea is commendable and if they do pull it off what a sight that would be!!

I don't do facebook and cant see any details without joining a closed group. So that eliminated another group of riders.

But its possible I am the last one in the world who doesn't do any facebook, twitter or whatever else is out there.

And the event has a permit number and a processor. Washington DC Harley is putting on a spread and several local supporters are opening up early for riders. See the map.

beaner, you should be able to see the general details just looking at the Facebook page for the main group.

 

I don't anyone thinks 2 million riders will actually show up. But there will be a showing.

 

I could be wrong, but I believe I heard this is a ride to show support for the many that lost their lives, families of those that lost their lives on 9/11 and in the fights, wars, conflicts and acts of terror that have happened since that terrible day. I also read that this event was originally brought to the table because there is a Million Muslium March (MMM) on DC that same day, again, this is only something that I have heard and can not confirm it.

Both the MMM and the 2Million Bikers in DC on the same day is fine, might be a little crowded but both groups have the right to assemble and express their cause in DC under the 1st Amendment of our U.S. Consitution as long as they both do it peacefully.

The more I read about this I feel a need to head to DC. May jump on bike tomorrow and head out its only a 6 hour ride.

 

This is an important ride. There is a million muslim march going on in DC and this ride would be to counteract that march.
I would go and still might go, it is my son's 11th birthday on 9/11. Still no excuse.
One more rider is one more, no matter how you count.
