I am about to do the 1200 conversion on the bike and have to admit that I am a little confused on why one nrand verses another. In my reading it looks like NHRS and Hammer are pretty much the same kit, right? Both priced at $700 for jugs, pistons and various associated bits. Also those are both 1250 kits.

However I can get a 1200 kit from Wiseco for $500. Wiseco is a brand I know, so why isnt anyone talking about them? I mean is 50cc really worth another $200? Or are there issues with this Wiseco kit, or what. What gives?

 

Hammer has diffrent pistons than nrhs. Lighter 30 degree reverse dome. It's not about the extra 50 cc. It's about top shelf quality pistons, jugs and fitted properly at hammer.

 

So you like Hammer more than others because of the pistons and the fitting? Are the many Wiseco failures out there? And when you say fitting, is that ring gap or what? I am looking for a technical reason vs preferences. Sorry, not trying to be a douche, just trying to understand why the 40% hike in cost.

 

Hammers pistons are custom made to their specs from CP Performance. One thing I do know, is those pistons are lighter which lessen the reciprocating weight, therefore aiding in reducing vibration. I don't know of any particular reasons behind why they don't use Wiseco, but being a business owner myself, i'm sure if it's not solely on relationship alone, there is a reason during the vetting process.

 

They have CP pistons that are super light. Cp is a top shelf piston. The jugs are made by axtell I believe. Top shelve construction. Won't distort, thicker sleeve I think. The hone each set to order. They will gap rings and install them. 10% discount if your a xlforum member. Nothing wrong with wiescos at all. Are you looking at cast or forged pistons. Cast are for the birds. If you ever decide to do more motor work. You'll want a hammer kit. Like I said nothing wrong with wiescos....I just firmly believe hammer has better parts. Read up on their website. Lots of good info. My hammer 1250 makes 115hp along with other parts.

 

You get what you pay for. I'm not sure who makes wiescos jugs. The 50cc helps out when you start shooting for more power.

 

hands on, R&D, customer service. While I'm a Hammer fan, both Hammer and NRHS have a big customer service reputation. Rather than just buying a bolt on kit, both these guys will help you meet your goals in your upgrade.

 

115hp??? What about Torque and do you have it Dyno?? If so, lets see the those numbers...

The dyno sheet he posted is correct. Like I said....there is more than a 1250 kit in the bike. Pump gas friendly. Stock rockers and lifters in an old 1992 bike. Plenty of vids to back up the power claims too.

Dyno pulls were in 4th gear...not 5th. Sae... too
