Default Stripped screw hole on my fairing..any ideas?

I noticed that one of the screw holes that connects my outer and inner fairing is stripped on my RG.It looks like the screw holes are plastic and I don't see any kind of bracket in there that can be replaced. Is there anyway to fix this without having to replace the whole outer fairing?

Go see your dealer. I had one of my windshield captive nuts detach from the inner fairing due to overtightening by the mechanic there. They replaced it no problem. There should be a captive nut on your inner fairing as well, if not then maybe they can put one in.

I've pulled the captive nut out, mixed up some JB Weld, put some weld in the nut hole, coated the outer nut, reinstalled nut, let dry for 12hrs, installed screwand learned never to over tighten them.

You might be able to re-thread the fitting if you have a tap and die set.

Last time I had the fairing off it looks like the screws in the inner fairing are only threaded into plasticinto the outer.I saw no type of insert what so ever.Infact one of mine are stripped also.I know the dealer did this during warranty work but have never took it it back.
The next time the fairing is off,I'm going to install thread inserts in the outer fairing.
Helicoils,Timeserts,Spiralocs would be better than the factory setup.

There are no captive nuts on the RG fairing, the screws just thread into the plastic. The best thing you could do is fill the hole, re-drill and tap. Might be a good thing that they don't have captive nuts because if one of those broke loose and started spinning you would have one hell of a time getting that fairing off to replace it.

SubZ is exactly correct!

Fill the the hole & drill it. Use the screw to start some threads. Then, GO EASY on those screws when ya tighten them down.

Nice to know that the fairings are that much different between a SG and a RG.

Easy way remove gas cap, carry with you and find another bike it fits.......
but seriously.
re-fill the hole with any good quality epoxy glue (you mix two parts together to make)
Let set up and then drill a small pilot hole for the screw. this will allow easy re-insertion
of the screw and prevent breaking out (splitting)of the plastic.
Loctite also makes a stripped thread repair kit. mostly used for metal holes but will work
on plastic too.
