I've been reading on the site lately and of course there are always new products coming out for cleaning the windshields and getting rid of bugs etc,....a couple of days ago I read that we can use Hydrogen Peroxide. I did a research on past posts and see where it is used but there was one comment that bugged me.....(no pun intended)....it said that it works great but be careful of paint. So I need to know from someone that's used it and used it on thier paint,.........sounds like a great way to go but I need to hear from people with experience with it...

I use Plexus, available at most dealers for short money, and I know it won't harm the paint.

I would avoid it just cause unfamiliar,, why take a chance. also h2o2 comes in different strengths,,,bakers,household,,ect maybe diluted it would be fine?

 

Go to your local airport (private side, not commercial) and hit the FBO's (fixed base operator) store. Get the Shell Aero windscreen cleaner, maybe $15, but it will last forever. I go through a bottle about every 18 months on my plane, and the windscreen is much larger. I have seen Flitz do the same thing, but have never used it. You might also check the net for both products and get a better price.

 

I've found a product call "Dry Wash & Guard" that works very well on everything. I was so impressed with this product I bought almost everything else in their product line up and am very pleased with everyone. This stuff is great!

 

My Dad also digs on this stuff, but my experience wasn't good with it. I tried this product on one of my Corvettes, carefully following the instructions,and I ended up having rub marks all over the paint. It tookthe orbital polisher and a high-end cleaner wax to get rid of the marks. It may work well for windshields, but if you're doing paint, try a small test area before you dig in - YMMV.

 

This is the first time i've heard anyone having a problem with it. I'll make a post to see what kind of response there is to it.

 

I have a spray bottle with water and just a drop or two of dish soap, spray and use a soft towel
