Do I need to run premium fuel in my Ultra? Book says 91 octane?

I recommend 93, although the book usually is right. Just a way to prevent pinging in really hot weather.

Do not run anything less, you will get pinging under load.

great i got a tank of 87 and I can swear that the bike is backpopping a bit...guess I should have believed the booK!
Love the bike will feed her whatever she needs to PURR!

I not only run premium gas I use the HD fuel additave about every 3rd tank full. Makes me feel better.

I have always used premium from a major brand, such as Shell, Mobilor Exxon, etc. I also look for modern stations or ones that take care of their underground tanks. 39 years of biking and counting. Best of luck with your choice.

I was using Arco in mine cause it was cheap if you can call $3.16 vs. $3.20. I got in the 90's a month ago and noticed that climbing a grade that it was pinging. Since then I have used only Chevron or Shell it should all be that same gas but these stores add chemicals that seem to help. And thats all I have to say about that.
