Default Brake Light not working

I notice on my bike yesterday that the rear brake light don't come on when i hit my foot brake (rear brake) but works when I hit the front brake. I'm not sure if there is a switch i need to replace or what. I really haven't had time to look but i figure i would post this up to see if anybody else has had this problem.

rear brake pressure switch is gone. check the wires first, make sure they are connected. otherwise replace the switch.

If you have a three way switch in there...that sounds like the name of it. Anyways, when you step on the brakes, it allows your turnsignals to act as brake lights as well.

It that switch malfunctions.....you have no brake lights at all.

And I would check those connections for voltage drop in addition to continuity -a chore that many might neglect. I think it is always better to at least be able to let the techie know that you checked continuity and voltage drop already so that they can then go right to the more complicated stuff. Otherwise you simply pay someone to do the simple stuff you could have done -and they sure do charge!

usually the brake light switch on the MC is shot. Had to replace the switch on the sporty. Back in 99 the switch was only 6 or 8 bucks. JimmyZ
