I was looking into the 1200 conversion and decided that I really don't want to get into all that work and braking into the motor. As of right now all I have are SE II Slipons and air cleaner that I want to keep.So I figured i would start by upgrading what I have now so that when its time all I will have to do is throw the 1200 kit on the bike. Now with out going into the motors internals beside putting cams on what can I done. What would you recommend for cams carb, ignition to get the most out of my hp out of my 883?? and how much hp does a stock 883 make? and how about much HP will I make after I'm done??

Since you did the a/c and mufflers, that's the biggest bang for your buck on the 883. To go any further your next step is borring your jugs or buying new 1200 or 1250 jugs and pistons. Ignition and cams are not really going to be worth much on with 883 jugs and heads. So i'd do the jugs first along with cams, to get the bulk of the hp gain. Then from there go after a new ignition module, and look into ported heads. Doing the 1200 conversion is pretty simple and straight forward as long as you follow a manual, so don't shy away from it.
