Driving Two Motorcycles Side by Side Still Illegal - Virginia will remain one of only two states in the nation where it is illegal for motorcyclists to ride side by side in a lane. House Bill 48 aimed to make it legal for motorcyclists to ride abreast in a single lane but was defeated in a 9-9 vote by the Transportation committee during a Tuesday committee meeting.

I very rarely will ride side by side. Maybe when we are going slow in a city or something but usually it's, one lane= one bike. Doesn't mean we follow the two second rule either, but side by side at 70 mph is dangerous.

 

I ride side-by-side now and then, usually on the highways. But always with someone I know can ride. I think it's fun.

When I ride with our HOG group, they will go into "parade" just to gather the group. We have never had a problem (fingers crossed).

 

It's illegal in Washington, but I've seen LEOs waive it when we were riding in parades (HOG)or for some funeral processions (PGR). Just depends on the circumstances.

Like another poster, I don't have a problem with people I know, but I would be concerned about making it legal and then have some bonehead think it's okay for him to ride next to me on the freeway. No thanks.

 

Lots of my friends ride like that. Not for me. I have plenty to think about without thinking about what the guy 1 foot to my left is thinking or not thinking about.

 

Same here, I like to chill when I am cruising. Doesn't help to have someone all up on me. It may look cool to some, but you have to focus too much, and everything has to go right (i.e., no **** in the road to swerve around).

 

Legal here in Cal, just depends on who is riding next to me!

 

When going through towns and at stop signs I don't mind it, but on the highway I prefer to be staggered

 

My boy Ratt was the only one I trusted enoughto ride bar to bar..........poor **** iscrusin thebig highway in the sky now.
