Default The FXDL Idiot Light relocation part

I have seen a lot of posts asking about idiot light relocation with FXDL. I found this part the other night and I hope this helps. Looks like someone is looking out for us old school guys.

As far as drilling the 3/8 hole into the triple tree:
From what I have read there is no integrity issues doing this. Is that the case? Or has anyone had any issues? My question is the bolt on the other the other end what type should I use so I dont see it?

Should get you to where you need to be if not, go to www.headwinds.com find the search tab at the top and paste this in:

INSTRUMENT PANEL, FXL, FXD, XLH WITH INDICATOR PANEL SLOT

I think I am going to order one when I mount a a billet style light.

Cheers,
Guns

I just posted under "Dyna Glide Models" the same question about this relocation, and then found this. Thanks! Can you tell me how this is mounted? I want to change out the handlebars for mini apes, and also the headlight.

Again, GOOD FIND!

I joined this forum last year, and forgot all about it. I also found what I needed to replace my stock handlebars with mini apes as on the Street Bob. Sure beats going to the dealer and asking questions that they don't care to answer!

Here's the text from a post that I made a couple of years ago. The info might still apply. I had contacted Headwinds about changing out my headlight and indicator lights mount:
___________________

I'm planning on switching to mini apes on my 05 Low Rider and thought it might be a better looking set-up if I could do away with my headlight visor. Problem is, I'd have to relocate my indicator lights (which are in the visor) and would also have to come-up with another headlight mount since it is top-mounted into the visor.

In case anyone else is interested I received the following info from a company called Headwinds (www.headwinds.com). Looks like it would cost approx. $90 in parts plus a headlight .....

***Info From Email Response From Headwinds***

This is for the XLH, FXR, FXD bikes with top mounted headlights.

The first option would be to remove the visor that the stock headlight currently mounts too. The first thing you would have to do is drill a 3/8" hole into the bottom of your lower tree. Then you can take one of our mounting blocks, bolt it to the bottom tree and then you can mount any 5 3/4" Headwinds headlights on your bike. Once you have done that, we also made a instrument panel that replaces the visor so you can still mount your indicator lights.

Part number list for above setup:

1-0021XLH - Mounting block for 5 3/4" bullet housings.
1-0002 - Mounting block for 5 3/4" rocket housings.
100-0009-125 - Bolt kit, lower tree to mounting block.
100-0001A - Bolt kit, headlight to mount.
6-0005 - Instrument panel for mounting indicator lights.
