I'll ask one more time,
I'm going to Reupholster my sundowner seat. All black with black ostrich leg in the middle both front and rear.
should I use Leather or vinyl for the rest? I will supply the leg skins and leather, what isa fare price to pay for the sewing?

I would go with leather. I'm no seamstress, but I would say, $50?

I figured around 50, too. No I have not takin it anywhere yet I need to order the ostrich leg skins first. I always kinda worry about upholstery since I had some work done on my boat paid 500 after 3 estimates and the lady did not use marine grade vinyl. I paid extra to replace all of the wood in it. after about 2 months at the lake it started falling apart. same old wood when I took the covers off.
I took it to another guy that works out of his garage 250 bucks he fixed everything correctly.
By the way I took 500 bucks out of her husbands ***.

i can help on this one.
owner of
SUNCOAST CREATIONS
upholstery at its finest

24 yrs OJT under my belt
leather will work fine as long as you take care of it
if not it will crack and rip apart at the seams the new vinyls on the market look as good and feel the same as leather at a fraction of the cost (trust me on this) i get people to feel leather and vinyl everyday most dont know the difference. as far as price goes you get what you pay for most of the time. that being said theirs no way i would recover a seat for 50.00 take your seat to a reputable upholstery shop tell them what you want to do.once they give you a price its time to negotiate don't be afraid to try they left room in the price for it.if your still looking for the materials for the job most shops can handle that for you too and can stand behind it ifa problem should arise.if the shop is any good they will have tons of pics to look at ,be backlogged for atleast 2 weeksand offer some sort of warranty, plead with them to work it in for you since its such a small job
most will hell i do it all the time for bikers (hard on the butt without a seat) just don't do it on friday and expect it for the weekend. not gonna happen!
hope this helps

Leather for sure.

Are they stitching just the cover or covering the seat pan also?

If they aresticthing the cover together than sending you on your way expect anhour to an hour anda half labor.

If they are covering the seat expect two hours or slightly better.

I usually pay around $200-$250 to getmy seat pan coverd including material. My last trip was a re-do with some additional leather and it cost me $50.00 and a big thanks.
