Hello Jim and welcome to HDF.

What exactly is the problem? There's a couple different way to go about this depending on what the problem is. This should help:

Welcome to the HDForum Dad!
yes as Badinflunce ask whats going on with your engine?
Also tell us as much as you can about your bike, engine modifications, what kind of pipes, cam, cubic inches, ect.
heres another page with tuning instructions
did you know that not having the overflow tube attached to the float bowl can cause the engine to run poorly at higher speeds? The reason I am saying this I just read this in the instructions for my S&S "E" carburetor.

Thanks! I was doing rear brakes and rejetting today and I thought I went to small. I droped from a 64 to a 60. I think a 62 would work much better! The 64 did not have the same pop at 1/2- 3/4 throttle that it did in the first and last 1/4 of throttle. 62 seems to be the smallest I should go.

the main jet sounds to small for an 80 IMO main jet is for W.O.T.
the intermediate jet and accelerator pump is whats going to change the throttle response.
assuming the other components of the engine is tuned correctly.
keep a close eye on the spark plugs going that lean

cjantdad,

Okay you cursed me some how with this thread. As of this morning my '83 FL is sputtering and hard to start but runs fine once started. I feel strongly the points gap has narrowed. Will check when rested. Working 3rd shift and only seem rested when working.

Oh whom I kidding I'll rip into when I get home this morning. Hopefully minor.
