Changed all fluids today on my 04 Fatboy, how much oil do you put in the primary? Owners manual does not give capacity, and I don't have a service manual yet. I put in a quart, then I see some say it's only suppose to be 26 ounces, did I put in too much or is a quart fine? It's hard to see in there!

 

My 06 takes 26 oz per the service manuel. It also says you should be able to see the oil level down at the bottom of the clutch plate. Don't remember if that is on the side stand or upright.

 

You wouldn't think 6oz over would hurt but you might try to get the extra oil out anyway.

 

Oil should be visible between clutch and inner wall of chaincase with motorcycle standing upright. According to the service Manuel.

 

my neighbor works at a harley dealership and we changed all the fluids in mine thursday...we put 1 quart in the primary...

Still deja vu???? Have not seen another bike in person like ours and have only seen yours and one other on the internet. I used mother's day money to purchase chrome housing, switches, master cylinder, etc. so I'll have to update picture when that is all in and on the bike.

 

2004 Softails take 26 ounces.
