How do I check/fill primary?
Hello Friends!
First off, I'm not the best with getting info from the internet. I do know that everyone on here is helpful and I really hope I'm not reposting the same question.
I own a 2005 Dyna Superglide Sport FXDXI
I don't know how to check/fill my primary. I see all the drain plugs for the oil, trans and primary. I do see the fill/check holes for the oil and trans.
I don't know how to fill or check my primary level.
I have about 9500 miles and I want to get it changed out.
Thanks a million for reading!

RE: How do I check/fill primary?
Nice! Thanks a ton! I thought I was going nuts looking for that damned fill hole!
I used to be a pit monkey for a living.... changing oil, tranny fluid, dropping tranny pans and filters, differentials, transfer cases, antifreeze... the works. I know what's up with cars, but I was going apeshit on my Dyna. My roomie thought I was gonna start bleeding from my eyes!
I really appreciate the help. I'm doing the 10k service myself. Dealer never gets it back to me in a decent amount of time and this is my only vehicle for now.
Thanks again!!!

RE: How do I check/fill primary?
The technical answer is to fill it to where it just touches the bottom of the clutch basket. It is about a quart, but do check it the proper way. Also I would suggest filling it with it being upright and not on the sidestand. Also if doing the 10k make sure you do all by the book to include critical fasteners, clutch adjustment, etc.

Right on! I talked to a couple Harley owners out my way and they do their own wrenching.
When I say wrenching, I really mean full-on rebuilds and stuff, too.
I'm going to do my first primary change and adjustments with supervision and guidance. This is my first time. Kind of reminds me of when I had my first girlfriend back in the day HAHAHAHA
Thanks for the posts and help!
