Yes, I searched the forums, but I couldn't find what I was looking for, and I know I have seen it before and forgot to bookmark it.

I am looking for a way to get the brightest headlight and spots without way too much modification. I am riding an 03 FLHTCI. Right now, I have a silverstar headlight, and the original spots, you know, the one piece that DO NOT have the replaceable bulbs. The silverstar is bright, but it needs replaced at least once a year, and the spots aren't near as bright.

Any and all suggestions appreciated.

 

J&P Cycles carries a replacement for the spots that you can insert an H-3 bulb into. Combined with the Silverstar H4-ST you can light up the road ahead of you pretty well. If you want more than that, contact Motorcycle Metal....they have one heck of an HID setup...better than the Harley HID setup.

 

Are the 4 1/2 inch lights the ones you are referring to? Thanks for the tip.

You'll get a nice improvement if you replace the entire headlamp with a HELLA European unit. $32 here:

It will focus more of the light on the road where it's needed. No matter how bright a bulb you put in a lamp, if the light is scattered all up in the trees, it isn't doing you much good. The Euro lights have a sharp horizontal cut-off and keep the light focused down low. It's a major difference.

Then add a Sylvania Xtra Vision H4 bulb to it for another $13 and you'll be in better shape than someone who popped $200+ for an HID conversion in the stock lamp shell. Trust me on this one. You won't be dissappointed.

I've got a Xenon HID setup made for cars and adapted it for use in bikes. Cost is about 190 w/shipping. Put one in and you'll never use your spots again

 

i was going thru this same dilema. i have chosen to go with the HID light. found one for $75. yes its good quality. i m just getting it at a real good deal, new to

For Headlight, I'm running a Osram 70/65W , it produces 2000/1350 lumens and is compatible with most stock wiring harnesses. $22.00

For the running lights, the 898 with 37.5W. $10.71 each.

I was debating on going up tp the 50w running lights but didn't know how the wiring would handle all the extra heat.
