Default softail inspection cover leak

I have a 2003 Softail standard which is leaking from the primary inspection cover.&nbsp\\; It appears to be coming from behind the torx bolts.&nbsp\\; I have replaced the gasket twice with the concave side facing inward.&nbsp\\; It was unsuccessful.&nbsp\\; I even tried rtv silicone around the bolt heads.&nbsp\\; No luck still.&nbsp\\; I bought a new metal cover also.&nbsp\\; Nothing!&nbsp\\; This is getting old, fast!

Harley, I have 2006 standard and mines does the same damn thing. I'm on the 3rd gasket. I'm going to try some teflon tape on the bolts tomorrow. I'll let you know the outcome of my next try. You are right, this IS getting old.

just curios if you actually torqued these bolts to specs? after 40+ fluid changes(I have never torqued those bolts, but torque&nbsp\\;EVERYTHING else from cases up) I just had one that leaked and tried 2 gaskets to no avail. put another gasket in and torqued per specs and now no leak.

My '04 does the same - even after I cranked the bolt down so hard it chirped.

I had a similar problem but it turned out that the fancy Live to Ride plate wasn't exactly flat.&nbsp\\; Changed the plate and gasket and it doesn't leak.&nbsp\\; Make&nbsp\\;sure you have washers between the bolt head and the plate as well.&nbsp\\;
