Rear tire on my 06 RKC is getting down there...3/32s or so. Since my state inspections is due, was thinking of replacing it.&nbsp\\;It has about 8000 miles on it. Although I consider myself an above average wrench, I'd rather let someone else do the tire. &nbsp\\;Local HD dealer says 1 /1/2 hours labor..a total of 90.00 labor. I'm guessing this includes balancing. &nbsp\\;Idependent local, a Big Dog dealer, &nbsp\\;is nearly the same.&nbsp\\; Local Honda dealer will do it at half the labor cost.&nbsp\\; Tire price is about the same at all three places.&nbsp\\; Local Honda dealer pushes the "all makes" repair and even stocks the tire.&nbsp\\; Any thoughts?...thanks

I use an Indy for tire changes... Mine charges $65 per tire on the bike... Less if you just bring him the wheels... Have you considered using one???

 

I always buy my tires on the internet and carry the tire and wheel into the dealer. They usually charge around $35-$40 to take the old tire off and mount and balance the new one.

My dealer gets $65 an hour labor, 2 hrs charged to mount and balance both tires.&nbsp\\; Nice dealership with good people. &nbsp\\;

 

If you have a lift, it's very easy to pull the tire.&nbsp\\; Would cost probably 0.5 shop hours (30 some bucks).&nbsp\\;

Just did it - allows you to get in a clean places you normally can't get at.&nbsp\\;

Changing the rear on a Goldwing doesn't/shouldn't take that long...and those are a bitch!
My indy adds $30 per tire to his cost for markup.
Additional $25 to change the tire ON the bike...$5 if it's off the bike.
OH...and he charges a nominal $4.95 Shop Supply fee to EVERY service order.

Of course, working there part time has its advantages.
I get my tires, and everything else...at cost.

 

I recently paid 1 hour labor at 80/hr for the rear tire change (plus the tire, weights, etc.). At another dealer out of state where I had to stop to get a new headlight I commented on that. He said they charge an hour too, but their rate is only 55.

 

Bear in mind some aftermarket exhausts have to be at least partially removed to get the rear axle bolt out-an added cost at some shops.

 

Dealer charges 1/2 hour per wheel off the bike 1 hr on w/ stock exhaust. I enjoy doing it myself. I used a floorjack and the drop hitch on my truck to break the bead and you need a lot of air volume to get the bead to seat. My local auto tire store did the inflation.

 

My regular dealer charges a couple hour labor, plus the tire. I'm glad to hear it is competitive, cause I'll be ready soon, 9,000 miles.
