I was kicking around the idea of mounting my license plate sideways on my nightster. I was wondering if it's illegal to do or anything. I'm in California (if that makes a difference). Has anyone else done this?

try the sideways plates, i have a few buddies with them and they never mentioned anything. if anything you can turn it back easily right? its not a permanent mod

 

Not that the mod is permanent or anything, but I don't want to draw more attention to my bike from the cops since i already have shortshots on and I ride without a DOT helmet. Sideways plate would just add to the attention if it&nbsp\\;IS in fact illegal and they look for it around So Cal

You need to know the code for the state and the local jurisdiction you ride in. Search the Internet. I did the mod on my bike after determining there wasn't anything illegal.

 

Cuz thats what being a biker is all about.&nbsp\\; Do what you want to YOUR bike.&nbsp\\; If they ticket ya so what?&nbsp\\; Pay the man and ride on.

 

&nbsp\\;Just put a pivot on it with a chock cable so you can&nbsp\\;pivot it up or down depending on whether the FUZZ is around or not.&nbsp\\;

not illegal in illinois. you can't flip it anymore than 90 degrees. it can either be normal, or vertical. but no more than 90 degrees because it would start becoming upside down.

 

Not legal here in Jersey but the cops dont seem to mind providing they havent pulled you over for something else.
