I am thinking of getting a 2003 to 2007 road king classic or road king. Preferably one with less than 5000 miles on it. &nbsp\\;I used to have a 67 shovel head many years ago but dont know much about the newer bikes. Im sure I want efi but I dont know if a 6 speed tranny is that big a deal. Im sure there are other smaller differences also. Any information or tips would be greatly appreciated. I would rather be better informed now than to buy something and regret it later.

 

07 will have the six speed and 96 inch motor. Once you do a tuner on it you will really enjoy the power and smoothness. The first and fifth gears are cut different and some have had extra noise out of the tranny so I would test ride anything I was going to buy.

 

If you can swing it get an 08.&nbsp\\; The MoCo fixed the fifth gear rattle on the 08 touring bikes.&nbsp\\; I have it on my softail and it's a PITA.&nbsp\\; Harmless they say but still a PITA.

00 thru 02. Twin cam 88 with a real crank bearing. You can increase the displacement without worrrying about the lower end. The present day lower ends are made of butter.

try to avoid late 04 and 05 models..valve stem seal problems but most have been fixed by now..
