Default CRANKCASE DRAIN PLUG

IN DRAINING THE ENGINE OIL FROM A SOFTAIL, I REALIZE THAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DRAIN ONLY THE OIL TANK, BUT WHAT IS THAT DRAIN-PLUG LOOKING BOLT UNDERNEATH THE CRANKCASE ON MY 2005 FXSTS?

Don't mess with it. While it might be a "drain" plug, ya don't take it out when changing oil. Basically there is no oil in the crankcases on a harley, unless the oil pump check valve fails. And then when you fire it up, it'll puke all the oil trapped in the crankcase out the breather, and/or pump it back into the tank.
