Does anyone know if there are fairing mounted or trim mounted mirrors for the road glide? If so, who makes them.

Nothing like this exists as far as I know and I've been all over the net since I bought my RG a year ago.

Sorry, can't answer that question but HD does make chrome extensions for existing in mirrors in case you weren't aware.

 

i rode a buddies 09 RG and got a GOOD look at my elbows


bikes with straight drag bars have long stems on them.

so i will buy some night train mirrors for his RG.

moves the glass out about an inch, makes a HUGE difference.
i run them on every bike i have ever had,
usually 20~$30 shipped on forums.

they are powdercoated black too, look cool

i think some V-rods have long stem black mirrors also.

 

The stock mirrors definitely don't do a good job. In my case, I got some from Kury that had extended billet shafts that did a little better.

But... I like the idea of a fairing mounted mirror. I wonder if the fairing would have a difficult time supporting a stock length mirror though with such a small base. It would be interesting to start looking at some automobile mirrors that have a larger footprint base that might fit on the flat part of the fairing just below where the windshield attaches. I wonder if mirrors from a Beetle or Mini or a Japanese car would work...

 

I hated the stock RG mirrors. I took the mirrors off my 04 sportster and installed them on my RG. They have longer stems and look exactly like the stock mirrors. I can see behind me without staring at my arms and shoulders.

I looked on Ebay and there are several listings for the XL mirrors . . . cheap. Might be an inexpensive way to deal with your mirror issue. Worked for me.

I would prefer fairing mounted mirrors as well. Settled for extended HR mirrors.

 

I wrote to Paul Yaffe at Bagger Nation about this a few months ago. He was working on a few prototypes and sent a few pictures to me. Most were just stock aftermarket mirrors with stock stems that he mounted with a bolt through the fairing. He said he has several people using them and no one has reported a problem with them breaking loose. I wasn't convinced and asked him if he would be working on a more secure mounting system. He said he woould see what he could come up with.

 

only the XL's with drag bars (straight bars) will have the extended stems.

XL's with buckhorns will have the same short stem you have.

so ask them to measure the stem (from bend to bend) before you buy.

black night train mirrors are the ticket.

 

The stock Hd mirroirs give you a great view of my armpits, Stem needs to be longer. I went with the Kury ones. They are longer, clearer, and tighter than the stock HD one,s.No fairingmounts one's, but back in the day I had a kawi
1000 with a vetter fairing. I mounted a set of artermarket Car mirroirs.They worked for a while. Until they wore out the mount holes I drilled in the fairing for them.
