Default 1994 FXDWG Cylinder Base Gasket weeping

I have noticed recently that there is oil leakage that seems to be coming from the cylinder bases of the 1340 EVO engine on my 1994 FXDWG. This bike has 40,000 miles on the clock although I cannot vouch for that as I am the 3rd owner!!
I am wondering if this is a common problem and what is the cure?? Is an engine ripdown and new base gaskets the only solution??

Thanks in advance & Greetings from Ireland

Regards

Tom

I was told by a few guys to let Evo motors warm up good,Or yes it would be hard on the base gaskets.

Yes that is true, the EVO should be warmed up before riding. As for the base gaskets, there is no quick fix, but the best gasket to use is the Cometic base gasket. I have used James and Cometic. Never had a leak with a Cometic.
