flhx - blacking out turn signal bar - removing bulb sockets????
does anyone know how to remove the bulb sockets/reflectors on the flhx rear turn signals? theres a rubber gasket all the way around and id like to not rip it when i take it apart to powdercoat everything. im not sure if its in the manual, but ive got one ordered.
thanks.

just use a small screwdriver and work your way around them to pry/work them out. I swapped the turnsignal bar on my RG to the SG one, and transferred over the guts from the turnsignals. A little wd40 helps them pop back into place when the time comes.

I think you got the answer you wanted, but here is something else you can do, which I did to my bike. "don't mean to high jack your thread here."
I blacked out the saddle bag reflectors and turn signal lenses with some spray tint. It's call "Canopy Spray Tint". You can get some at any hobby store. It is used to tint the plastic bodies on radio control planes and cars.
I used a heat gun to soften the tape which holds the reflectors on the bags and sprayed about 8 very light coats, and I mean very light coat or you will get a ruff finish. At first I thought I went to dark, but at night when the lights hit them they still reflect red. With the turn signals, just remember they still have to be seen.
You can buy some 3M double sided tape at any big name hardware store to put the reflectors back on.
Good Luck. I guess I should stick this in the DIY Section.
