I have a 1970 XLCH that I bought new, Iam trying to see what the interest in it might be. It is not a basket case it is complete and has about 5,000 miles on it, it even has the original tires on it and I have the original title. I am the only person that has worked on it. it has both kick and electric start and some other engine mods. this is the first of AMF before they made many changes, it looks like an early sportster should. Do you guys know if there is a market for it, don't want to get rich just would like to see it get a good home. I am an Ultra guy today (you know old man).

 

I had a 1974 xlch that I had for years. Wife talked me into selling it when I got my dyna. A friends kid wanted it. He sold it cheap six months later when they wanted to repo his van. I wish I had never sold it. There are so many sick sportster chops out there. If I still had it I'd be choppin it instead of messing up my dyna.

I have my original 1973 XLH, mostly just " an Art piece now" but for collectors most definitely of interest.

 

That bike is a real headturner. I think that if youre patient, you will find a buyer willing to treat that bike right and willing to pay the right price. I have a 1973 XLCH, and in my mind it needs a ton of work, but it constantly has people stopping and staring. An old sportster in good shape catches peoples eye cause you cant just buy it out of the showroom. And anyone who knows anything about them knows the effort required in keeping the bike up and even starting the dang thing.

 

I have one. Bought it last year and it's kick only. Killer bike. XLCH's in 1970 were kick only from all the research I have done. Could it be an XLH? vin # would tell you, if it starts w/ a 4A it's an XLCH, 3A it's an XLH. Mine is pretty much stock w/ matching #'s. It has some minor mods like dual cable SE carb, drag pipes, 16" reear wheel, seat etc. Some parts for the 70 are almost impossible to find, because it was basicly a "transition" year.

tracker476, you are right, they are a real headturner. My neck still hurts from when I first saw mine at an indy harley shop while driving by. I knew then I had to have it. 38 D's used to do that to me, now it's old Harleys. I must be getting old as well!!

Nice bike Reno. I had a friend in high school who bought a new 1970 orange XLH and it was absolutely a dream.
