I'm looking for an online resource or book which would show me all original factory paint schemes available for each year of the Sportster during the 60's and 70's. Looking for ideas for my Sportster, specifically the tank. Thanks!!!!

 

Just look thru the various photo galleries on here, you gotta see at least one of every paint job ever done by the factory.
You might find some original pics by googling something like "new bike test results for Harley"

 

search specifically like "1968 sportster" and some site, somewhere will have a pic of a stock one.

Google Books has entire copies of American Motorcyclist online. You can browse them and word search them. I found Harley's ad for my 1963 sportster, and a review in a later issue that showed factory paint styles and logos. Sure, they were in black and white, but they still give you a good idea of what's original and not. You can also find lists on various website and in books that tell you what paint colors were standard for each year/model. Hope that helps.
