When I work on my bike, my hands get greasy. My fingernails are the worst. I've tried different soaps and an old toothbrush, but some stains still remain. Does anyone have any suggestions?

 

Get a nail brush at the drug store. ORange hand cleaner helps too. Also clip your nails short...

 

Lava soap for your hands (the bar soap, I dont trust in liquid soaps) and a pocket knife with a clip blade for your fingernails.

 

Go to your autoparts store and pick up some of their hand cleaner. Some people like goop, some the orange stuff, some prefer Lava soap. They all work well.

Also, the nail brush is very helpful. Sometimes, I'll use a mildly abrasive pad (3M green pad, I keep them around for heavy scrubbing on pots and pans, etc) to knock the crud off my hands.

everytime i go to work on the bikes greasy dirty parts i clean them with simple green while im working, it gets all over my hands and just dissolves the grime, when i am done i just spray a little extra on my hands and wash them with water and they are completely clean, even under the fingernails!

other than that, orange dish soap is great but you will be rinsing for awhile

 

I've always washed my hands with dish soap after working on cars/bikes. I learned it from my Dad long ago. The stuff in dish soap that helps it get grease off pans works great dissolving engine grease off your hands. The fingernails are the worst, always holds grease the longest on the area around your nails.

 

Fast Orange or any soap of that kind, or dish soap does work well. A hand scrub brush for the nails.

If all else fails..........some 31% hydrochloric acid might do the job, but beware it will clean hands to the bone..............LOL

I dig my fingernails into a bar of soap before I start. Seems to keep the grit out.

 

sometimes i throw a **** ton of hand lotion on before i go get greasy that helps a lil from the oils and grease from soaking in.

atf works great as well

i use a hand cleaner named kresto, it has crush walnut shell powder in it and it works amazing, better than anything i have ever used b4.

anything i have left comes out when i was my hair, some shampoo is actually really strong and either washing your hair or using a nail brush with shampoo works to get the stain out of the nail and skin.

clip nails short is a must.
