Anyone have any ideas for plugging something into this plug that is otherwise unused unless the battery tender is connected? I'm thinking that there are probably a host of uses for yet another electrical outlet that could be put to auxiliary use. Let me know please.

The Battery Tender lead has only a two or three amp fuse, depending on which one was installed. A three amp fuse could handle a pair of Gerbing heated gloves, wihich pull 2.2 amps (27 watts) but not much more.

A Battery Tender plus puts out only a 1.25 amp charge.

 

Cell phone (charging). GPS if not hard wired. I use a Powerlet cord that plugs into my battery tender connection. Powerlet also makes a double plug for the battery tender connection.

 

I have a charger plug...just incase cell phone goes dead and need a quick charge...I suppose a person could carry a little light/LED or small flourescent light that would plug in, if they were broke down at night it would sure help.

 

I just installed my battery tender yesterday ($39.99 model) and so I just went out and looked (seats not on yet) and it came with a 7.5 in-line fuse. My garmin only pulls 5 watts, that should be a good set-up. I think cell phones are even less but could be wrong on that one.

 

I intend to hook an auxillary power outlet to it for my GPS.

I use my flat 2-prong hookup for my electric jacket, and to power my cell phine charger, ipod charger, camera battery charger, electric air pump for air mattress and flat tires and whatever else can be run with 12 volts. For about $5 at Walmart you can get a cigarette lighter type housing with a 2-prong connector, comes with a waterproof cover as well. I don't have a battery tender though.

Since my tires are tubeless on my fatboy, I bought a tire repair kit that came with a small air compressor, that I can run off of my battery tender plug.
