I touched my hot chrome pipes with a microfiber cloth. Not good! It immediately melted onto the chrome. It doesn't seem to want to come off. Any ideas?

0000 Steel wool will take it right off a hot pipe. Make sure the pipe is hot and don't press let the steel wool do the work. This is how I get the wife's melted boot rubber off my pipes. Just don't press or you will scratch the chrome.

 

Try oven cleaner or brake clean first before steel wool. I prefer brake clean first but if that doesn't work than oven cleaner. Not on hot pipes. Not a fan of steel wool.

 

0000 Steel wool is very fine, the best part about it is that you don't have to and shouldn't use any elbow grease.

 

Got some fleece melted onto my pipes lastweek, (loose fleece sweatpants while moving the scoot to change the oil), but haven't attempted to get it off yet......I'll be watching this thread to get tips for when I go to clean them.

 

Take a cotton cloth soak with chrome polish get pipe hot and scrub. Must be an all cotton cloth be careful you don't burn yourself

 

Easy off will work fine if you don't ask how I know.

 

i use my small butane torch to heat the area up...careful doesn't take much...and use fine steel wool...if your pipe is already hot you don't need to heat it up...works like a charm and leaves no marks...actually know someone who works at a dealer and this is the method they use also to take boot marks and such off the pipes

 

Use oven cleaner and crumpled-up aluminum foil (the foil won't scratch the chrome).

 

Patience, elbow grease and Flitz! Haven't had anything yet it wouldnt take off and some of it was really burnt. Flitz works better than mothers, never dull, and every other metal cleaner i have tried even that crap that Harley sells.
