Default FXD speedo mount on drag bars (prototype)

This is going to be my solution to the question of what to do with the speedometer and idiot lights when installing drag bars on a FXD. The photo shows my prototype mount made out of Oak and a section of PVC pipe. I have the CAD drawings sent off to a local machine shop for quotes. They will quote quote both 6061-T6 aluminum (later to be anodized black or polished) and also stainless (polished to a mirror finish). The design of the bracket will allow it to be installed with the speedo under the bars or over the bars. I'm going to mount mine under the bars so I can use the stock wire harness. Oh, it also clears the tank with a 2" tank lift.
What do you all think?

The photo in my gallery might be of better quality.

Thats sweet. I wish you had done it about 6 months ago. I would have been on board. That would be good for a tac. as well with out the idiot lights on it.

Jerryvela,
I will freely share the CAD drawings with anyone who wants them, as long as they are for your own personal use. Just send me a PM.
I created the drawings using CadStd lite which is freeware so anyone can download the program and modify the drawings as required. The only critical dimension that I see is the distance between the risers so you would want to measure your bars and adjust as necessary. Let me know if you need any help doing this.

I will post photos of the finished product and let everyone know what it cost me once this project is done.

Just wanted to commend you for being a newer member and making such a generous offer. The FXD speedo mounts have haunted many owners on here as they search for alternatives. Thanks again for offering one!

Not quick just happened to tune in. I figured you were some ware on the Pacific NW with a screen name of Columbia Whaler. What do you have a "Boson Whaler" boat of something?
