SE 255 Cams with stock displacement .... Money well spent?
I am getting close to ordering a new Road King, and I want a little more punch from the throttle. Obviously, a SERT, breather, and pipes, but what about a cam upgrade? Id rather not spend the money for the 103 if the difference is not going to be that great. I'm stumped... Help!
SE 255? SE 257?
Any advice will be appreciated.

This is over my head, but there's a good discussion of cams and performance on the Dyna forum. Perhaps it will give you some useful info.

If you want to stick with HD cams due to warranty concerns, you have plenty of reading to do there. If aftermarket is ok with you, the HQ-500 seems to be the way to go. You will certainly get alot of responses from individuals that have used one cam or another, definately no shortage of options out there.

Seem to be a lot of issues with the SE 110, running hot and leaking oil at the base of the rear jug. 103"-yes, 110"-no. IMHO.

My dealer also steered me away from the 110 toward the 103. Although they claimed the 110 issues seemed resolved by the '09 year, they had more experience with the 103 and felt confident the systems they put together with that kit would outperform the CVO 110 bikes.
Also, it's less expensive. Unless you absolutely have to get the 110, check out what you can do with a 103. You may get more bang for the buck and less headache after the fact.
