Default Rebuilding a 4 spd transmission (+++PICS)

Hey how's going? This 4 speed transmission has been rebuilt twice in the last 5 years to the tune of $2000 dollars. Well it leaked like a stuck pig within a month of being rebuilt last time. I have now taken the bike over from a family member to help solve this leak problem. I can say it leaks from the clutch rod shaft opening and from the main shaft itself. Does anyone know where I can get some info on changing all the seals? I've ordered up a JIM's master gasket/seal kit. Here's some pics so far..I will provide pics as I go along. If anyone has any tips let me know.

cheer

Why would someone put a rotary trany on a bike that should have had a ratchet lid !!! These trany's were inferior HD's solution to installing a rear belt drive Are you going to install a rear belt in the future ? As you can see I never liked these trany's Maybe install a 5 speed in a 4 I run one in one of my customs (96 CI S&S ) I love it

For now I'm just looking to get it from leaking. It's blowing up primary belts from soaking them in oil. Got stranded big time last year on a ride... The tranny itself shifts fine for what it is. No plans on a rear belt just bought a new chain for it. What can i say, it's old and I can't afford a new bike right now..

Out of curiosity does your primary belt use an idler for tension ? I'll check my inventory for the main shaft seal ( inserted into 4th gear ) and the trany nut seal The rest are o'rings I'll check part #'s

The primary belt does not have a tensioner its tensioned on size only. I've ordered the JIM's seal kit but im strongly thinking of changing the main shaft.

Changing the main shaft is a good idea They do wear at that seal point

Here's a great turorial on how to change the seals on a ratchet top older model 4 speed I thought was worth sharing...update on my build..the main shaft is on it's way out today pictures to follow..

http://www.streetchopperweb.com/tech.../photo_01.html

I found the culprit. The main bearing seal spacer had a lip worn in it and a fubared O-ring. Exactly what somebody on this side told me would be the problem. Here's some pics of the progress so far. The key to removing the main shaft is to find the circlip and slid it up over the splines..i missed it the first time looking around.
