I have heard of it being done but as much as it would be nice to get the extra milage out of the rear I would avoid it myself. There is a difference in the bead area between the bike and car rim. The car, I believe needs more bead area then you bike rim has. Could cause leakage or worst. Hate to have low pressure and have the bead pop in on a corner. This is just my opinion and like belly buttons every body has one..........

google "dark side." Running a car tire is known as "going over to the dark side." There are whole web sites devoted to it. With the new wider back wheel on the '09's, you will probably start seeing it on Harley's. Wing and Valkrieye riders seem to be the ones I've seen it on.

Car tires have more of a squared off edge leading to the sidewalls versus a bike tire. Your bike rides the outer sides of the tire while turning, car tires would make this very hard IMO.

Just say no.

You can afford to have tires with rock-hard compounds and 80,000 mileage warranties when you're in a car and riding on four of them. On a bike, I want a stickier tire, rounded sidewalls, and mileage be damned.

On my next project bike I plan on doing a car tire on the back and a cop rear tire on the front. Everyone gets stuck on doing what the MOCO thinks they should be doing instead of customizing and going out side of the box. I say if it is different and you like it go for it!

Saw a video on you-tube about this subject. Someone mounted a video camera so the rear tire could be observed while in motion. In turns the sidewall flexes and the tread stays in contact with the road. Old school.

A car tire's squared off edge will affect handling in corners. Car tires are suitable only for trikes, hacks and other bikes that don't lean.
