Default Problem with Ignition switch

2006 883C Key switch appears shot? While riding bike will loose all electrical functions bike will die I wiggle the key and power comes back pull in on clutch hit the starter and bike fires to life. Is there anyway to fix the switch or do I need to replace it? Keeping in tradition with HD it's a Hundred Dollars with shipping for an oem switch. After market is $50.00 but it does not have a pre wired whip. Anybody got one?

I put a new switch on my bike just yesterday (2003 XLH1200). The dealer wanted $75 for the OEM plus it would take a week to get here, so I ended up getting a switch for older bike from the for about $20. It's for a 78-93 XL the PN is (71425-77T), worked out fine for me, just make sure you get a 3 wire. I assume the 06 are still 3 wire switches.
Also, on mine the switch housing needed to be dremeled out just a bit because the new switch is only flat on one side and was a bit to large to fit in the hole.
Or you could do what i was originally planning on doing and putting on a round key type switch from a BT. drag specialties sells them.

Hey Bull frog you forgot to mention where you got the switch?
Thanks for the info. And yes they are a 3 wire switch.

From the dealer. The P/N is in my previous post. The switch is not pre-wired like the stock one, I found it was easier to solder some wire leads to the replacement switch and tie those into the factory wiring than it was to try to connect the switch directly to the wiring.
Hope you get it worked out.
While your working on the electrical system, check the leads going into your coil. My bike had the same problem your describing last summer and it ended up being one of the wire leads had the coating rubbed off and the copper wire was broken off at the rubber boot.
New piece of wire and she was running good as new.
