I had the diverter tang closed off so that no exhaust flows straight through. It all is diverted and comes through the opening indicated by the arrows and then reenters the baffle tube through the smaller holes downstream.



Don't use regular steel wool. It has to be STAINLESS steel wool. There is a vendor on ebay that sells it. It's quite a bit more expensive than regular steel wool, but it won't rust to pieces in the muffler.
