Man, I am right down the road from you, just north of Austin, and head up around Ft. Hood all the time... We should get together sometime so I can check that thing out...
I use the 08 back rest w/o that big ass pad on it and have the luggage rack attached too. Helps with the bag when I travel. I don't see many FB's down this way, how about up there?
